Some car makes have their own battery manufacturing facilities while others rely on a separate EV battery maker. This industry changes rapidly. From capacity and charging time to reliability, these companies have competition with each other.

LG Energy Solution

LG Energy Solution is a battery company founded on December 1, 2020, as its parent company LG Chem separated their battery business into a new company.LG Chem has made batteries since 1992. Did you know? LG Chem produced Korea's first lithium-ion battery in 1999 and made automotive batteries for General Motors in the late 2000s. By now, they supply batteries for Ford, Chrysler, Audi, Renault, Volvo and SAIC.

AESC

AESC (Automotive Energy Supply Corporation) is an electric vehicle battery company founded in 2007 as a joint venture between Nissan, NEC and Tokin Corporation.In 2010 the Nissan Leaf was introduced with AESC batteries.By 2014, AESC was the 2nd largest ev battery manufacturer worldwide.Even though their current productions are unclear, in June 2021, they planned to set up a Gigafactory in Douai, France, to supply EV batteries for Renault Group by 2024.
